Onn Fat Hong

Onn Fat Hong first grew its roots in the early 19th century, when an 18-year-old Wong Sum had just escaped from the civil war raging in Guandong, China to the foreign lands of Singapore. With a deep respect for his Chinese culture, and an acute sense for business, he began selling rice, sugar and of course, tea.

As his business grew, Wong Sum began dedicating most of his focus to tea. He started bringingin high quality tea leaves and gathered his friends to teach the art of tea appreciation to anyone who wanted to learn. This built the foundations of the business as thego-to place for hotels or restaurants to purchase tea leaves in bulk.

Wong Sum later handed over the business to his son, Wong Cheong Onn, who has tirelessly adapted and developed the business to keep it relevant. They have recently gone into e-commerce with over thirty types of tea sold online, and they keep up with regional tea-drinking trends to stay relevant in today's day and age.
