Hak Sheng & Co has been selling rattan and bamboo products since 1969, and gained popularity under Goh Kiok Seng, who had learnt to make these then-popular products alongside his father since his 20s. Their first shop was located at Lavender Street and they later moved to their current storefront at Kallang Bahru in 1975, when the business experienced rapid growth.
Today, Hak Sheng & Co is led by Goh's son, Patrick, who took over at a tender age of 21 years old in 1994, and runs operations with a greater emphasis on imports and exports to help keep sales afloat amid dwindling demand over the years.
Mondays to Fridays: 10.30am - 5pm
Saturdays: 10.30am - 2.30pm
In 2019, Hak Sheng Co was engaged by the Gardens by the Bay to craft a rattan cornucopia for display in its Flower Dome. Towering 3.5 metres high, it was challenging to create given its unconventional shape and dimensions, but the father-son duo delivered with every little detail fulfilled as requested.
